The first ever Spyro game was originally released on the 9th of September, 1998, and it has been speculated that if a new game is truly in development: maybe that will be the date a new instalment could be released.
One thing to also note is that the recent post also contains an equal mix of Crash Bandicoot references and easter eggs, could this be the crossover that fans have been waiting for? In a recent video post from the Toys For Bob Instagram account that celebrates the new year, fans quickly spotted multiple Spyro references.ĭespite the post also containing references to non-Spyro projects that the studio has also worked on in the past, fans were adamant that the post was an unofficial confirmation for a new Spyro game. However, the studio is now possibly teasing something Spyro-related for the official 25th anniversary of the purple dragon in the form of yet another easter egg. Such as the giant floating Spyro balloon seen in the background of a Crash Bandicoot level, which sparked hopes that the team will one day develop a Spyro and Crash crossover. Toys for Bob, the team behind the remastered Spyro trilogy and Crash Bandicoot 4, are known for including fun easter eggs in their games and artwork.
